5 Blog Writing Tools for Beginners

Updated: Aug 19, 2021

Hey Fam, I hope you’re doing great and are keeping yourself safe!

Today’s blog article is probably going to be the shortest one but I promise to add some value. I have been writing on this blog for almost 6 months now! I want to give a pat on my back for this tiny milestone :)

To stay consistent in these times, when distractions are all around you is an achievement in itself. I have been regularly using a set of tools that help me in staying consistent on these blogs. Today, I want to share with you these 5 tools that I help in writing blogs. I hope you find it helpful. Let’s get started.

1. Google Doc

Since, the start of my blog, I have been drafting all the articles on google doc. In case, you do not know, this is an application that comes with your Google account.

It’s also available for offline usage. Even if you face internet issues, you can work on it offline and when the internet gets restored, the data gets automatically synced to drive. This way you don’t end up losing your work and can continue working in a flow.

It’s also available as an app, for on the go edits, last-minute updates and jot down quick notes. It is extremely convenient and has most features that Microsoft Word offers. There is no worry of losing your files as it is all safely stored on Google Drive.

2. Trello

Ideas come to you at the most random times, right? Trello has an amazing kanban board system that is very simple to navigate. There is almost no learning curve here.

You can jot down all the ideas you have for your upcoming projects and then keep moving them between columns as you progress through its creation and execution phase.

This is a great tool and serves as a repository of ideas that you can pick and choose and start executing. You can also share the board with your teammates and track each other progress on the project.

Moving cards from ideas list to executed list gives me immense satisfaction.

3. Procreate

The cover pictures that you see on my blog posts have been created on the Procreate App. Well, I do know my drawing skills are pretty basic but I love using the app.

I think it also gives a unique look to my blog posts. I enjoy creating these minimalistic designs for all my blog posts. The app does have a learning curve but once you get the hang of it, the sky is the limit to your creativity.

4. Grammarly

This is a great app to check for your spelling and grammar. It has helped me correct some blunders that happen when you’re writing in a flow. If you’re a complete beginner, Grammarly is a great tool that will help you form clear sentences.

It also alerts you if your sentence does not make any sense or is too long to make complete sense. I use the free version of the tool although the premium version offers a lot more benefits. I plan to eventually move to the premium version.

5. Pinterest

Pinterest is a great tool to look for inspiration and idea generation. Oftentimes, you have a vague idea of what you want to write but are not able to structure it. Pinterest helps you find similar ideas and topics that match yours.

You can then read through, get inspired and work on your piece. It is also a great place to discover other creators with a similar niche as yours and connect with them through their blog.

Did you find this helpful? I would love to know in the comments below. Let me which one is your favourite.
